Box Office: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark at Number 3 in Slow Final Summer Weekend

In the final weekend of the Summer Blockbuster season, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark had a rather tepid start, only rising to the Number 3 slot.  Still, based on that movie's modest budget, it could still turn a profit before finishing its theatrical run.  Conan, though, already considered a flop, had the ultimate insult as it fell below the Smurfs in its second weekend of release.  More on the weekend results at this link.
