Seeking Major Tom: William Shatner is Back with Another Album of Spoken-Word Covers of Classic Rock Songs

Yes indeed, folks.  William Shatner is at it again and has put out another collection of spoken-word covers of classic rock songs with his newest effort Seeking Major Tom.  The Shat-man has ventured down this path before, with his debut album in 1968 (The Transformed Man), his epic double disc William Shatner Live (now, unjustly, out of print), and 2004's Has Been. His newest effort tracks in at twenty songs, all with a space / sci fi theme to them.  Among the songs he covers are David Bowie's classic ditty that started the Major Tom saga ("Space Oddity") along with Golden Earing's "Twilight Zone", Thomas Dolby's "She Blinded Me With Science", Black Sabbath's "Iron Man", and even Queen's mini-rock opera "Bohemian Rhapsody".

The CD just came out this week and as of this writing holds a 4 ½ star rating (!) at Amazon.com.  Here's what some of the reviewers had to say:

"It is like having your brain sucked out an airlock and then splattered across the windshield of a space shuttle (but in a fun way). As with gravity, the pull of "Seeking Major Tom" is inescapable. All should experience it. All will experience it!" -Captain Jag

"Through the proceedings, Shatner does what he does best: portray William Shatner. He talks, ruminates, and emotes his way through the tracks, and even takes a stab at singing on Black Sabbath's "Iron Man." When it works, it is quite fun. When it doesn't, it can be a head-scratching-and-shaking experience." -Old T.B.

"Shantner is not a singer, but he is totally engaged with is tongue-in-cheek delivery. This is a fun, campy, and sometimes sentimental, project." -Chip R Palmer

It is available as a CD, as an MP3 download, and for some real nostalgia as a limited edition Vinyl LP.  Be sure to order yours today from Amazon.com before we discover this is really all just some bizarre illusion conjured up by the Talosians to warp our minds!
